Empowering SMEs: Strategy and Impact of Aid Programs in South Sulawesi
Abstract
This study examines the implementation of capital assistance programs for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in South Sulawesi during the COVID-19 pandemic. The primary focus is to explore implementation strategies, challenges encountered, and the expected positive impacts of these programs. The research methodology involved secondary data analysis and in-depth interviews with key informants from the Department of Cooperatives and SMEs of South Sulawesi Province. Findings indicate that while the program demonstrates commitment to supporting MSMEs as a pillar of regional economic recovery, there are challenges such as complex data verification and ineffective stakeholder engagement. Empowering MSMEs through capital assistance is expected to enhance competitiveness, production, and market access, thereby significantly contributing to the local economy.
